TITLE: Junior Designer
REPORTS TO: Senior Designer
EXPERIENCE: Should have 0-2 years experience in furniture or product design.
SUMMARY: We are searching for a talented designer who can translate the Blu Dot philosophy into award-winning product design.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research and create innovative, new product designs from initial brainstorming through production - within prescribed timeframe and allotted budget
• Generate new product concepts and clearly present concepts (in sketch, computer model and/or physical model) to Blu Dot design team for review and development
• Create design presentations for customer review - in sketch, computer model, scale model and/or full-scale prototype
• Fabricate prototypes and scale models to aid in the design development process for both internal and external review
• Document new product development projects through photography, models, and drawings
• Research existing and competing products to obtain perspective of existing trends in field and to evaluate potential need for new products


SKILLS:
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, and Rhino preferred
• Bachelors degree in Furniture or Industrial Design
• Solid knowledge of and skill with the operation of power tools and small shop fabrication techniques for the production of high quality functional furniture prototypes
• Basic understanding of RTA furniture construction and detailing
• Knowledge of materials and processes, including, but not limited to, wood fabrication, wood finishing, steel fabrication and steel finishing
• Strong sketching, rendering, and conceptual skills
• Ability to thrive with a high volume of work while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work well with all levels of employees
